I have found myself wondering a lot lately about how your medical needs would have manifested themselves here in India.

How would you have handled the heat, the long days, the different food, and everything else that comes with travelling somewhere so far from home? Would I have been worrying about you? Would you have been telling me you were perfectly fine when you clearly weren’t?

Knowing you, probably.

It is strange thinking about those things now because they were supposed to be part of our adventure too. We knew this trip wouldn’t always be easy, but we were supposed to figure those things out together.

I miss hanging out with you.

Not just for the big things like seeing the big sites or travelling across India. I miss the ordinary parts of having you here the conversations, the jokes, having someone beside me who understood me, and being able to look at each other when something ridiculous happened and immediately know.

Today at the school, I thought about you again.

You would have been the shining star
