Journal 5 for Matt

One Last Adventure with You

Matt, you were never far from anything we did on this trip. Our final Consent Café was held at Khalsa College in Amritsar. It felt bittersweet knowing it was the last one. I finally felt as though I had found my rhythm, and I could not help thinking about how you would have brought your own energy and humour into the room.

After class, the rain came pouring down. By the time we reached the Golden Temple, it had stopped, leaving behind intense heat and humidity. The temple was breathtaking, even though our visit was shorter than expected. As I walked through the crowds and looked at everything around me, I carried you with me.

Later, I dressed in my traditional outfit, had my hair done, and joined the Teej celebration. The music, dancing, bright colours.  I imagined you laughing, taking everything in, and enjoying the experience beside me.

You were never far from anything we did on this trip. I still wish we could have done it together, but I understand that was not how it was meant to be. Somehow, I brought you with me anyway in my thoughts, in my heart, and in every adventure Uni and I shared.

I miss you, my friend.
